Every one of us has asked the question: why sponsor an orphan? For these children, a whole world has collapsed, often overnight. Worldwide, more than 140 million* live without the help and affection of one or both parents. Every day, at least 10,000 children become orphans*!  In addition to this tragedy, which strikes them right in the heart at a time in their lives when they most need the protective framework of a family, these children have to endure additional difficulties that make their living conditions even more fragile: poverty, hunger, dropping out of school, street violence, disease… These orphans are exposed to all kinds of dangers.

This is the case, for example, in Iraq and Senegal. Sometimes, orphans must also contend with the disastrous effects of scourges such as climate change, as in Madagascar, Pakistan and Kenya, or armed conflicts, as in Mali and Palestine. Risk of famine, lack of drinking water, epidemics, insecurity, need for shelter… the orphans in these countries face countless hardships.
